A Listing of Events and Activities at Pikes Peak.
- HIKING – A great way to experience the Peak’s tremendous
beauty and spectacular vistas. At Crystal Reservoir (near
Mile Marker 6) you can hike the short Overlook Trail
or other lakeside trails. Elk Park Trail (one mile
above Glen Cove) is 5.2 miles one way and offers back access
to Barr Camp. Barr Trail is 13 miles one way, with
its trailhead in the Cog Railway parking area (start early,
this trail is challenging). A meal or a bunk may be available

- BIKING – You’ll find trailheads for mountain bikes
at the North and South Catamount Reservoir parking lots. Bicycles
are not allowed on Pikes Peak Highway. Challenge Unlimited

- NORTH SLOPE RECREATION AREA includes 2,267 wooded
acres and three lakes (North and South Catamount and Crystal
Reservoirs). Enjoy bank fishing, non-gasoline powered boating,
belly boating, mountain biking and picnicking. Or pan for
minerals at the Mining Sluice at Crystal Reservoir.

FISHING season is May-September; a
valid Fishing License is required for those 16 and up. Regulations
are posted in reservoir parking lots. Contact the Colorado

- DONUTS AT THE SUMMIT – The summit is a destination
in itself. The view from 14,110 feet is fabulous, stretching
as far as Kansas or New Mexico on a clear day. Reward yourself

Events
PIKES PEAK AUTO HILL CLIMB – Dating back to 1916, this
race is the second oldest auto race in the U.S. It travels a
tricky 12.4-mile course where speeds can reach 130 mph. The race
is held on the last Saturday in June with pre-race activities
the week before.

PIKES PEAK MARATHON – This 26-mile foot race begins at
Manitou Springs and travels to the summit (and back down) by way
of Barr Trail. Held in August, it draws many of the world’s top
runners every year.

NEW YEAR’S EVE FIREWORKS – Ring in the New Year with the
spectacular AdAmAn Club fireworks display. A brave group from
this mountaineering club scales the Peak and puts on a glorious
New Year’s Eve fireworks show at midnight. On a clear night, it
can be seen for hundreds of miles.
